DEFINE ACTIVE: Sean Crotty
Sean Crotty started his fire service career as a Fire Explorer with the North Boston Volunteer Fire Company at age 14. Once he became a full-fledged firefighter, he progressed quickly and became one of the youngest fire chiefs in the department’s history.
With a focus on pride, brotherhood and an appreciation for the history — and the future of the fire service — Sean Crotty has grown into his role as a fire service leader.
Sean works for the Town of Hamburg NY as a full-time Public Safety Dispatcher in their communications center and leads their town’s disaster preparedness and response efforts as Emergency Manager.
Sean’s focus on training his replacements is evident in his role as an Erie County Fire Instructor, as an Associate Professor for Erie Community College’s (ECC) Paramedic program, and as the Volunteer Coordinator for SMART-Erie County’s robust Medical Reserve Corps.
Sean still finds time in his busy schedule to coach his kids’ sports teams and is an avid Ski Safety Team member at Holimont in Ellicottville NY. He and his wife Jenny serve as paramedics on the Boston Emergency Squad, and Jenny also serves as a flight nurse with Mercy Flight of WNY.
Sean and Jenny instill community service into their two active kids and in all aspects of their lives.
