Many firehouses across Erie County are full of groups of volunteer firefighters who are also “first FAMILY first.” Some of their relations span multiple generations with fathers and sons, daughters, moms, aunts and uncles, grandparents and great-grandparents sharing a common legacy.
It’s our goal to share and celebrate this greatest of family traditions: community service. We welcome you to read, listen to and view their stories that show how blood lines run deep in the volunteer fire service here in Erie County. The bond of firefighting brotherhood is never stronger than when your ‘second family’ is also your ‘first-family-first!”
We welcome you and your family to visit your local volunteer fire department and explore all the great ways to serve when you join our second family. And we all know that it takes family to truly make a [fire]house a home.
Family matters in our fire service!
Fight Fires. Save Lives.
